Amir graduated from high school in Budapest.
After the German invasion of Hungary on 19.3.1944, he worked with the Jewish council and simultaneously joined the rescue activities of the Zionist movement under the auspices of the International Red Cross in Baross Street and József Boulevard. Donning a German uniform Amir carried forged documents to various places and gave them to those who needed them. Together with a German deserter, he took part in the release of Jews from the grip of Arrow Cross men. At the end of November 1944 Amir organized a refuge for activists of the movement in a residential building and the defense of the house by men who had escaped from forced labour units.
After the war Amir took part in the organization of the B’riha mainly on the Hungarian-Romanian border.
In 1948 he made aliya, served in the IDF and later in the police force from which he was discharged in 1979 with the rank of Brigadier General Amir
died in Israel.
